Portal, a magical doorway leading to another location, period in time or dimension, is created by artist Nicollette Smith. Over the course of a month, Nicollette will be working on and installing a large mural in our space. Nicollette’s work is like a painting or drawing, but she uses an extensive collection of old maps to collage together an abstract, yet familiar image. Come meet Nicollette on September 14 during a special opening brunch and pop by over the course of the next month to see Nicollette’s progress.

About the Artist:
Nicollette Smith grew up in Berkeley, CA. After finishing high school, where she learned black and white photography, she traveled to Europe on a quest for artistic inspiration. She began painting soon thereafter and has since explored a panorama of subjects and mediums — from black and white photography to figurative oil painting and now to mixed media. She considers herself primarily self taught and self promoted. She has shown in various venues all over the San Francisco Bay Area where she continues to work and live.
